Intimate. Vulnerable. Strong. Soft. Hilarious. Beautiful. Real. Hella real. Hella, hella real. Moving. Tonight was the perfect ending to a long stretch of celebration. Each poet was heart-stopping. What an incredible display of the energy of women. Thank you all. We did this! #WomenLovetheWorld
Women Love the World, night two. Look at all these beautiful spirits and faces!
@mayaazucena loves the world! More photos to come once we get some good shut eye. Yawn.
But oh, good lawd! What a night of women’s magic. Two supremely powerful screenings, four incredible music acts, a beautiful audience and dancing abound to our phenom of a DJ. Women really do love this world something fierce and spread that love all around. Special props to the supporting men of the evening. We are a blessed bunch and we have one more night to celebrate with poems and an on site activist engagement piece. Come hug us before its too late. Celebrate!
An enormous, fired up thank you to all of our incredible artists, panelists and attendees of the Women Love the World event. What a night! Wisdom, truth speak, creative brains, a present and wonderful audience. We are filled to the brim with inspiration and ready for two more evenings of art, activism and celebration. We raised over $250 for our organizations tonight, and took a whole gang of photos to share with you, many with audience members messages to the young women we are supporting. Check @caitsmeissner on Instagram for all the joy- and come back tomorrow and Friday for more!

Caits Meissner is a distinguished New York based performance poet, youth development activist/educator, and Education Programs Manager at Tribeca Film Institute. I’ve known her for some years now, and every few months or so, when we can pencil each other into our busy New York lives to meet for a quick dinner, I find out some new phenomenal project that she’s working on that gets me all inspired and fired up inside. In fact, it was at our last dinner date, at Spring Street Natural in Soho, over a chicken burger (me), and a salmon plate (her), that she spoke to me about an incredible conference celebrating women artists that she was in the midst of organizing for Women’s Month. This isn’t just some woowoo–let’s hold hands and sing kumbaya–type of conference. The Women Love The World conference is a multimedia extravanganza over three evenings, where music, visual art, films, and poetry will be presented. Every red cent collected at the door will support two very important, very badass, grassroots organizations empowering the lives of marginalized women. Below is Caits’ story about how the conference came to be, and the amazing line-up of artists who will present…
